L1A to Existing B1 visa (valid till 2017)

Hi,

I am currently in L1 visa and I have a B1 visa previously used valid till 2017. Is it possible for me to switch to B1 visa after terminating my L1 visa? I want to stay in the country for about a month till I am able to sell my stuff. What do I need to do to switch to B1 visa?

Ideally speaking you would have to file a Change of Status from L1 to B1/B2. But the COS to B1/B2 can take months for you to get a approval/denial. Would advise wrapping up before your last work day and avoid minimal out of status period.
