Currently on L2 , Employer applying for L1 B

I need an information , I am currently on L2 and working in US . My Employer is ready to process L1 for me , Do I need to visit India to attend the Visa Interview or will my I 94 gets automatically extended and I can attend the Interview when ever I land in India next time.

Could some share their experience if you have ever faced this situation.

If L2 to L1 is applied as COS and it comes in a with a new I-94 the employee need not go out of US for fresh L1 Stamping. Of course, if the employee leaves US for whatever reason they have to get L1 stamped in passport for their return.
