So Im on an L2 Visa and went to the SSN Office with my wife (L1)
She got her SSN but I was told that I need a Work Permit (EAD) before I can apply for the SSN
I've read around the internet that L2s are exempt from needing the EAD for SSN...there's plenty of conflicting reports.
Now, for some extra detail, the agent at the SSN office said his "computer says that only SSN given to people with an EAD or shown to be married to L1 prior to their visit to USA)".
We were married IN America last year and we challenged the Agent that he was misinterpreting his "computer". We were trying to explain that this L1/L2 visit is different to the one last year (ESTA) when we got married. They were two separate visits.
Can someone clear this up for me as if I can get an SSN I will go back to the SSN office and speak to someone else.
