Converting Visa from L1 to F1

I am currently working on L1B (indivisual) visa and my company is insisting me to return back to offshore. My visa is till 30 Sep-2016. Is there a way I can stay in USA after leaving my company in USA in Dec -2015. I may opt for going on F1 visa for further studies. Any advise will be helpful.

If you get admission to a legitimate degree program, you can apply to change your status from within the US. The application must reach USCIS before your last day of work. Stay away from small, private, for-profit schools, they will get you in trouble. Apply to reputed universities only.
