H1 TO L1A Change of Status with 2 month to max out 6 months

Need some clarification, i am currently in H1 visa with max out 6 yrs of stay by November 2015. My PERM is currently pending with DOL filed in January 2015. I travelled to US via the same company in 2009 and i am in employment with the same employee since 2007. As per company policy, i am eligible for L1A and performing managerial duties. I keep reading that in order to apply Change of Status to L1A from L1B we need to have minimum 6 months of visa validity. I am not clear whether that rule is applicable for H1 as well. If not, i am planning to apply COS to L1A in order to extend my stay by 1 year.

Can anyone pls clarify whether Change of Status from H1 to L1A require minimum 6 months of visa validity.
