  • Employer asking to pay past L1B/A fees including GC fees

    Hi,

I came in 8 years back on L1B visa and then L1A visa and last year got GC. Now my employer has asked me to go, due to budget issues/unable to find project but giving me a huge bill $20K+ of all the fees incurred in last 8 years. They refer to clause in employment agreement to pay all the direct expenses in case of termination. Is that legal for employer to ask fees starting 8 years back. what are my options.

    Thnx

Never heard of such a thing, after all didn't you work for them for these 8 Years and didnt they make any money out of billing you for the services? Normally a word to HR about possible complain to DOL should be enough but if they still insist, you should engage a labor attorney and respond back. You might have a case to sue the employer. Start keeping back up of all all email conversations, policy documents etc. just in case.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

Talk to a good attorney and show them any contracts that you have signed.
