  • What happens to unexpired L2 EAD when changing to H4 visa?

I know that before the new 2015 regulation that allows certain H4 visa holders to obtain an EAD, change of status from L2 to H4 would mean that the L2 would lose the right to work. However, since the new regulation, I'm assuming that somebody on a L2 Visa who has a valid EAD card will not lose the right to work if the visas status changes from L2 to H4, at least until the current EAD expires?

I have not been able to find an answer to this, can somebody please enlighten me?

That is not correct. If you change status to H4 and are eligible to for H4 EAD, you will have to apply for H4 EAD also. The L2 based EAD will become void.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

I am exactly in the same situation. I hope someone responds to this.
