I-94 extension after passport renewal

Hi,

My L1A visa is expired and I have valid I-94 till 2017. My son has I-94 till Mar-2016 since his passport is expiring in Mar-2016. Now, I have applied for renewing his passport. Once we get the new passport for him, I need to go for his I-94 extension till 2017. Please let me know the process for I-94 extension for new passports.

I am going for GC Process under EB1 category (concurrent process) in 20 days. Please let me know if my son passport renewal process can interrupt GC process because of change in Passport numbers.
