L1A visa Extesnion - Travelling to other countries

Hello Friends,

I am L1A visa holder in USA and visa is getting expired on Feb 2016. My company is filing for the extension.
I have to travel frequently to some overseas countries from USA for short business discussions.

My questions are..

1. Can I apply for UK visa for business discussion after my petition extension is approved ? Please note that my I-94 will get extended not the visa.
2. Can I travel to Mexico for business discussion with extended petition ?

Please advice how to handle this situation. Any guidance would be really helpful
