  • Passport expiration and I-94 date

    Hi,

    I am working in the US on a L1B visa and recently made a short trip to India.

    My visa is valid till Jul-17. It was issued in Jul-14.
    My passport expires on May-18
    My latest I-94 was stamped till Dec-18

    What is the date till which I can legally stay in the US?

    If I get a new passport in 2017-18, will my I-94 and visa remain valid?

    You can stay until I-94 date or the PED, whichever is earlier. Getting a new passport won't have any impact on your existing I-94/visa.

      PED = Passport Expiry Date?

      So in this case I can stay still only May 2018?

      However if I renew my passport during 2017, would I be able to stay till Dec 2018 without requiring to exit and re-enter US?

        PED = Petition Expiry Date

          Is the I-129S considered as the petition in the case of a blanket L1. Or is the I-129S expiry date also considered when determining the date upto which a person can legally stay in the US?
