  • L1A to I485 (under EB1C)

My company has filed for I140, under EB1-C category and result should be known soon. But they are NOT giving me the I140 Approval Notice, and neither ready to file for I485 in the near future.

    My two questions are :
    1. Can I call USCIS and get a copy of I140 approval notice, under Freedom of Information Act, (After calling them to change the address to mine, from the company's - as it stands now)

    2. .. and then can I file for I485 through a different attorney myself to get GC in hand

    3. Is there any chance of my company knowing about this?

I doubt they would honor your request after all its the employer's petition.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

You want to cheat your company? USCIS won't let you do it.

Is there any basis? And it is not about cheating anyone, but just figuring out if there is anyway to expedite the process?
