Travel during L1B extension

Hi,

Mine & My family L1B VISA and I-94 has expired on May 1st 2016. My company has applied for extension in premium processing. I raised RFE few days back, I am yet to receive the RFE from USCIS.
My son came to US for summer holidays and he has to go back to India before the school start on 1st June. Me and My wife stays back in US only my son goes back to India. I this situation of L1B extension, can my son travel to India..? If he travel, will it have any impact on my L1B extension processing..?
