hi All,
I've been hunting around for some answers and seems this forum is full of a lot of knowledge, so thought I'd try my luck.
I am a 25 year old uk citizen and am currently working in the USA on an L1B visa.
I am very interested in obtaining citizenship / green card, but am very aware that it would not be in my companies interest to sponsor me due to me then having the ability to move company.
I work within a very competitive industry where it is the norm to switch compaies.
Is there any way that I would be able to do this without the backing of my company?
My dad is also from the UK and has a UK passport, but my mum has an American Passport and was born in the US.
She then moved to the UK when she was 4 and when she was 16 her family moved back (her entire family still resides in the US) and she stayed in the UK and has been there since. The only other time she has lived in the US was in 2002-2003 when I moved with her and my brother + sister for the year.
I have done some research and from what I can work out my age & the time my mum has spend in the uk may make it difficult for me to obtain on the back of her?
Thanks very much for any input and feel free to let me know if I need to provide any additional information.
Thanks a lot,
Bill
