Moving from L2 to H1B Visa with valid expiry

My husband was in H1B visa extended till Feb 2018 ( As per Passport stamping expired Apr 2015).
As we are staying away we changed his visa from H1B to L2 hence inactivating his h1B Status .
Now he got a job using his EAD here . Is it possible to switch back to his H1B visa by any chance?
