  • L1B Extension Approved - Still Shows Admin Processing

    Hi,

I attended L1B Blancket Extenstion interview at Calgary , Canada consulate on Thursday 11/17/2016 9 AM. VO said that the visa is approved. He returned me two copies of
I-129S, I-797 and G-28. He retained one copy of those forms with him along with my passport. VO did not mention anything about 221 G nor he gave me any pink / blue or any colored slip. He also mentioned that I can collect my passport in the subsequent week.
On Monday 11/21 , when I checked the CEAC site for status. It showed Admin Processing and last update was on 11/17/2016. The processing time is 5 business days but in this location another colleague of mine got it in 3-4 days. Even today 11/22, the status is showing as Administrative processing.
I have old visa (Active) on my old passport (expired) but the VO did not ask for that expired passport for the older valid visa at all. (for cancellation >> Just a guess)
I am in Canada and my family is in USA.

My worry is why the status is showing Admin Processing even after 3 days?
    Is there anything wrong?

    Please help.
    Amit

Interesting. I am exactly in the same situation. L1 Renewal with expired VISA in old passport . A quick google search points out that it is usually cancelled if the old VISA is still valid. Since our VISA has already expired , I don't think there is a need to cancel it explicitly. But you never know these embassy rules.

Can you contact the Consulate about it ?

I mean PED(Petition Expiry Date) date , which is expired right. Anyways , even i double checked with the VFS in India last week if i should submit my old passport as it contains the VISA. They said it is not needed. This is causing a lot of inconvenience now.

Yes. I received my passport in my hand today. Yesterday at around 11 AM the status was changed to Issued.
