L1A - PED and i94 expire in April 2017 but VISA is valid until 2019

I am on L1A and my family on L2. Our VISAa are valid until 2019, but the Petition (I-129S) and i-94 expires in April 2017. What is the typical process to renew the Petition and i-94? My most important question is - do we need to exit the country for a consular appointment for the petition extension since VISAs are already stamped until 2019?

Your employer should file an extension using for I129.

As for travel, it depends on the approval notices, if they come with new I94 or not. Apply in premium to get a quicker response.
