L1B claiming out of country days

Hi All,
currently i am L1b Individual, visa received on aug 2014 petition valid till aug 2017.
i am going to apply for extension, so in worst case extension gets rejected.. can i claim my out of country days.
i.e. i got visa in aug 2014 but came to usa on 4 jul 2015. can i claim these unused days, even if my extension gets rejected.

For all practical purposes an extension and a recapture is considered same, so an extension rejection most likely will mean a recapture rejection too.
