  • Entry for L1 Visa

    Hi,

I recently got my L1 visa approved at the Chennai consulate and collected. L1 validity Start date is 23 May, but I'm still in India.
Me, my new manager and the current manager have agreed for the transfer to new role be on Jun 19.
There's some work in India for the new role also to be done.

Question is - Do I NEED to mandatorily enter USA to be on the US payroll?
Can I be in India for sometime and do some tasks for the new role and then enter USA?
If I need to mandatorily be in USA to be on US payroll, it will mean a lot of travel for me and a lot of expense for my company.

Appreciate any advice in this matter.

    Thanks,
    R

This is something you need to ask your HR. One can earn in USD even if one is not in US.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
