  • Admitted with wrong status after overseas trip

Based on husbands relocation I was issued with an L2 visa, since my employer offered to transfer me and I now have an L1 not dependent on my husband.

The L2 was CWOP. and I entered successfully on L1 and began work.

After a recent overseas trip I checked my I94 and they admitted as L2 status... what do I need to do? as obviously this should be L1 .

contact your nearest CBP deferred inspection office

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Very easy to solve. It happened to me! Go to the nearest CBP Port of Entry. There is no need to go to their office. Take your passport with the 2 visas and the I-129 with you. It just takes 4 minutes. In the same moment they will retype your entry in the computer and you can see in your phone the new class - they can re-stamp your passport or just change the number 2 by a number 1. The I-94 number will remain the same.

Now, remember to always double check the class of admission in CBP. They usually don`t speak that much but I always say: please confirm to me the class of admission, let me check the stamp...I had one mistake done in the past and I don`t want to fix it again. Simple like that.
