  • Visa Expiration vs PED

    Hi,

I have an L2 visa stamp with expiration date as Jan 2022 and PED (Petition End Date) written on it as June 2017. I'm planning to go to Canada in Oct 2017. My husband (L1A) and I have new approved I797s until Dec 2017. Is it safe to travel outside US and return? What documents would I need to re-enter US before Dec 2017?

    Hi,

I can't tell you for sure, but CBP officers asked me for I797 on reentry. So I guess your new I797 should work.

How did you get your I797 extended for just 2 months? Just curious.

    Igor

As long as you've valid visa & valid I797, you are good to go outside USA & come back.
