L1 to ESTA

Hello,

I am currently holding an L1-B VISA. I am planning on resigning (and giving up the visa), leave the country for a couple of weeks and come back to the US with an ESTA to finish moving out.
Do you know if this is possible, or if there is any risk I would not be allowed to enter the US with an ESTA?
