L2 Visa Single Entry Three Months Expiration

My stepson recently received his L2 visa. But there's only one single entry and the expiration date is 3 months later.

A US visa is only for entry and the visa's expiration date is just the last day he can use that visa to enter. It has nothing to do with how long he can stay. If the date he plans to enter is within those 3 months, what's the problem?
