L1 visa end date vs L1 petition end date

My L1 visa ends on 2020 and my petition end date is May 2018. What is the process to extend my petition, particularly do I need to go back to India and attend interview for stamping for L1 petition extension.

Talk to your company's HR for petition renewal. You dont need to go to India for petition renewal, neither a new visa is required till 2020.
