Hi,
I moved to the Georgia in 2015 on an L1A Visa, and I'm in the process of applying for my green card. I'm an Australian citizen.
I went to the Georgia Department of Driver Services to get my license where I showed my passport, Visa, I-94 etc. I had to sit a written test, which I passed and then was given an Instructional Driver's Permit, Class CP.
Until recently, I've never had a problem driving on this license. I have dealt with the police twice (once for expired tags, once for an accident where I was not at fault), and neither of them seemed to care I was on this license. However, a few days ago I went to hire a car at Enterprise Car Rental and their policy doesn't allow them to rent cars to drivers with an instructional permit. Hertz had no problem renting one to me.
So I was wondering:
1. What are the benefits (if any) of getting a full C Class license?
2. Do I have to get a class C license or can I forever drive on my CP class license?
