L1A individual visa - 221g - Passport retained

Hi, had a visa interview at Chennai consulate on 15th Feb, we were issued 221g blue slip stating application refused for administrative processing. Our passports were retained and the VO told us to contact back in 7 days if they dot hear from the consulate. Can anyone guide us what does this mean? Is there a chance of getting approved.

Yes, i got my visa stamped in the passport. I got it in 3 working days. All the very best for the extension. Did you get an interview waiver for extension?
