L1A Blanket Extension

I entered USA in Nov 2016 with my L1A Blanket petition and below are the details.

Petition Expiry Date -- 30 Sep 2018
Visa Expiry Date -- 15 Nov 2018
I-94 Expiry Date -- 15 Nov 2019

When I am trying to apply for my L1A Blanket Extension in Mar 2018, my company visa team updated me that I cannot apply for extension as I have a valid I-94 till Nov 2019 and need to wait till then. Now, here are my questions.

1. Is there a way I can submit my L1A Blanket extension in Apr 2018 as my petition is expiring in Sep 2018?
2. If I go to Canada for one day as a tourist, will it impact my I-94 expiry date? (I want my I-94 expiry date to be same as my petition expiry date and so I can file my extension in Apr 2018)

No Need to travel to canada to update the I94. its happens to me also my visa team advise me to book the appointment in the CBP website for I94 correction and visit the CBP centre (usually in the Airport) along with the document they will correct your I94 to match your petition expiry date.
