  • Child Tax Credit - L1A and L2

If a Canadian moves to the US on an L1A with spouse and children (L2) would it be possible to claim the child tax credits?
The plan is to become non-residents of Canada for tax purposes.

Would the L1A holder be able to claim Child Tax Credit for the children when filing taxes? If so, how would that work with them not being able to get SSNs? We thought that the ITIN numbers may work, BUT it states on the IRS site that:
    "An ITIN does not:
? Qualify a dependent for Earned Income Tax Credit Purposes"

If ITIN is the way to go: Can one only apply for it with the tax return or can it be done upon arrival?

    Thank you in advance
