  • L1B Transfer From USA to Canada due to L1B Extension Rejection

    Hi,
Can you share the process for applying for Canadian specialized knowledge visa after L1B extension has been denied in USA. I have 2 months, until 1 August 2018 to work and I am exploring the option of getting transferred to my company's Canadian office. I need to know processing time, any additional documentation required besides used in L1B and the approval rates. Since I have only two months left here, I am trying to avoid a trip to India, if at all possible. Please suggest.

Canada specialized knowledge visa is called WP (work permit) total timeline is 8-10 weeks from US, depends on how quickly you can provide documents to your attorney.

Thank you for your reply!. The CIC website says if applied from USA, the processing time is 3 weeks and once approved, I need to submit passport for stamping which takes a week. Since I am currently in US, I may apply from US itself. If I go back to India then the process is of 9 weeks and then stamping. This information was available at CIC website. I am not sure and I am confused because I cant apply from US if it takes 8-10 weeks because i am getting out of status in 8 weeks and the process has not even started yet.

Yes, since you have very less time, it's better to apply from India, if you apply from here and your visa is not stamped withing 8 weeks then you are in big trouble
