L 1 - A Visa - Minimum Expenses for a Family

Hi,

My name is Rakesh Shah and I have a stamped visa for myself and family.Our company point man in India, Sanjaybhai of Rays Infotech informed me that expenses apart from housing rent would be around USD 2200 per month for a family of three in Florida. Can anyone from Florida ( Tampa ) help me out and inform me if I will be able to manage it in US $ 2200. Again this is without housing rental.

Please reply as I will be leaving India in a couple of days.

Hi Rakesh,

I dont think that it would be $2200 without the house rent. I am in New Jersey (NJ) and have my friend there in Florida. And when we speak I noticed that the cost of living in NJ is comparatively high.

Just to summarize, how much we used to spend.

$ 1500 for House Rent
$ 75 - 100 (Weekly) For Groceries
$ 450 For Car loan (If you take one)
$ 360 - For Insurance (Which your company might contribute some)
$ 70-140 Electric & gas bill based on Summer & winter seasons
$ 80 for Internet

Sharing from my experience, but any others input might help as well.

$2200 per month after paid home will be good enough to "survive" - you might end up with no savings.
