L2 to H1B and back to L2 EAD

I came to US on L2 visa in 2016(My husband is on L1) and got EAD approved(valid till 2019) and started working. My employer applied for H1B and it got approved in 2017 with Change of status, only for one year and it will expire in September 2018.
Now, I want to switch back to L2 EAD(My husband is still on valid L1). My questions:

1. Can I go outside US and return on L2?
2. After I return, can I immediately start working on L2 EAD or Do I need to apply for new EAD?

I have not traveled outside US since H1 got approved. So, there is no H1B stamping. I only have L2 stamping - valid till 2019.

As long as your L2 visa & EAD are valid (not expired) you can freely come back & work on EAD.

Note that one can hold multiple non-immigrant visas at any time & he/she need to mention the visa he/she would like to use at the POE.
