  • l2 visa for son -22g white sli with remark to appear for interview with both parents

    Hello all,
I got my L1 and L2 visa for my wife and daughter stamped in Dec 2017 in saudi Arabia, since I was working there. However, in the month of (may 2018) my son was born in India, since my joining in the US was july 3rd so we preferred delivery in INDIA. Now, I came to the USA and at the same we process the documents for l2 VISA of my son, I did submit the passport of my son who is 3 months old now along with the required documents via drop box since he was eligible for interview waiver. However, the embassy has returned the passport along with a white slip stating that application is suspended under 221g and to appear for interview with both parents? Does this have any impact?

Do I need to travel to India or my wife can manage this alone but the slip says interview with both parents. Pls advise? I'm confused?

    Thanks,
    Yasser

Call/email the local embassy & re-confirm. I think one parent should be enough to visit there.

You can call/email local embassy directly - they responds very well.

Check their website for contact details.

Since you'll have to visit internationally to appear for interview - its easy to call them first & re-confirm.

Thank you for your input. Yes, I called embassy, they said no need for father to attend the interview since he is already in the US. So they advised mother along with the applicant should come for the interview, they sent an email also confirming the same.
My wife went to the embassy on Sep,24th for the interview, the whole process was completed in 30 mins. The only thing they wanted to confirm that if we (principal applicant, spouse & daughter) already had a visa stamped in Jan 2018, then why did we plan to deliver baby in India instead of the US, she was like your son would have been US citizen, to which my wife responded that my husband joining was in July first week and our son was born in May also, the other important factor was of high risk pregnancy so not to take any chances on health ( long travel) we decided to plan this in India. She responded with a smile "strange". VO then verified DOB certificate of my son and after some time she said, thank you! your son visa is "approved" you will receive the passport in 5-7 working days.

The same day status got changed from Administrative processing to Application received then the next day it went again to "Administrative processing" & on Wednesday, the status changed "ISSUED". They have dispatched the passport also.

          Thank you again.

Really strange. People misuse their visas or use multiple tricks to give birth to their child on USA soil, so that child will be come US citizen & you had visa, but didn't use it.

Anyways, Congratulations & enjoy in USA with your family & new born.
