GC on L2 EAD

An employer can petition him regardless of what status he is in, or even if he isn't in the US. The category will depend on his degree level and other things; his current status is not relevant.

Even if the emplyer files GC, at the max, application can reach I-140 approval only in current status (assuming EB2/3). How person can continue the job with the same employer when the L2 EAD expires? Applicant cannot work for that employer until he reaches I-485 stage? Is there any other work around?
