Primary L1 in home country for 1 to 2 weeks while dependent L2 is working on EAD

Hi All,
I work for a consulting firm where L1 intra company transfer happen for certain based on project duration. Once the project is done i'll have to return to home country for few days, it usually takes 1-2 weeks to find another project in US. During the 1-2 weeks period i'll be transferred from US payroll to India payroll on temporary basis.
My first assignment will last for 6-8 months, in the meanwhile i plan to apply for my wife's EAD. At the end of my assignment when i return back to India for 1-2 weeks can she continue working on her EAD?

If you are not maintaining your L1 status, L2 will also loose their status. If you are switching payroll even for 2 weeks, she too need to leave her company & USA along with you.
