  • will my existing B1/B2 expires automatically when L1 gets approved?

My B1/B2 visa is expiring sep 2020.
i recently got my L1B visa stamped. Will my B1/B2 will automatically be revoked for the duration of L1?
If not, then at the port of entry, do i mention that i am traveling on B1 and not L1?
iF YES, will it automatically be activated after the expiry of L1/H1?

    Thanks,
    Trackv

    Hello,
I am not an expert, but from my experience: I just received an L1 visa and my previously obtained B1/2 visa remained also valid. At the consulate I was told that I can still use also the B1/2 visa.

One can hold multiple non-immigrant visas at a time - so your B1/B2 won't be revoked when you get your L1.

At the POE, you need to help the office to select the right visa - you an do so, by showing your I797 along with your passport/visa. Ensure that the I94 (admitted) stamp on your passport shows L1 & not B1.

Also, I would not suggest you to travel, if below is your scenario:

Thanks for your kind reply. Regarding the "Do not travel" advice- This was for my husband who had both L1 and B1/B2.
I was advised by the cousulate officer that he may travel but he will not be allowed to enter.
Since we did not had much clarity, we tried to contact [email protected] to get the status on his visa. We recieved following reply from them:

        Question:

Dear Team, My L1B visa was approved and stamped on 21st Dec. Based on my visa my wife
applied for L1 dependant visa and appeared for interview on 14th Jan 2019.
Due to absence of wedding pictures, her visa was rejected. The consulate
officer also advised against my travel and made some comments on my visa
status. Could you please confirm and update me in the email if I'll be
allowed to enter/pass-through port of entry in US.
If not, please let me know what are the complications and if I need to
        apply again?

        Reply:

Dear Mr. X, Thank you for your email, please be informed as per our records there are no comments in your case status, currently your spouse's visa has been refused under 212(A)(6)(C)(I). 212(A)(6)(C)(I). The law prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone who has willfully obtained or tried to obtain a visa by fraudulent means or misrepresenting his/her qualifications to establish his/her eligibility. The applicant may apply for an I-601 waiver from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) under certain limited circumstances, but there is no guarantee that a waiver will be granted by USCIS. The U.S. Embassy in New Delhi has no control over the waiver application process. USCIS will inform you directly about the outcome of your waiver application.

Would you advice for his travel based on the above reply?
Is there any other way to know if he can travel?

        Thanks,
        TrackV

Good job, the best thing was to talk to them directly & thats what you did.

People here are just trying to help each other & may not be 100% accurate.

Now I think he is fine travelling to USA - considering there is nothing on his profile.
