  • Profile evaluation for L1A

Hello. Please evaluate my profile and let me know my chances for L1A individual.

Total work experience ? 14 years
    Current Company ? 3.3 years
Current Company got acquired by larger US company ? 1 year back
US company will be filing petition
Current Job Title ? Staff Engineer
Direct Reports now in India ? 2, with 2 more open positions
    Current Salary ? 40 LPA
US Job Title ? Engineering Manager or Product Manager

I have the option to choose the US designation as EM or PM.
Which one will be beneficial (ease of visa approval) based on the current job title.
My preference is PM as that is what I want to be, but am ready to make a compromise to make the visa process smooth.

Above things seems positive, but following information would help:
    1. Size of the company?
    2. Whom are you reporting to right now & whom will you be reporting in USA?
    3. Your proposed salary & location in USA?
    4. Any reportees in USA?
    5. Functional or non-functional manager?
    6. Your job responsibilities in USA & India?
    7. Hiring & Firing rights?
    - I am not an Attorney, hence not giving any legal advice. Just sharing MY opinion with an intent to help others.

      1. ~700 people worldwide. Less than 50 in India.
      2. Current and US role, both report to Director of Engg, based in India.
      3. Salary will be on-par or better than market for 14 years of tech experience.
      4. About 2 reportees in the US. Yet to be hired.
      5. Mixed role, but tending to be functional.
      6. Same responsibility here and in the US. To lead a small team of experiences engineers, also contribute on an individual level.
      7. Yes.

Though there is no defined rules on how much reportees you need to have, but just 2 reportees seems pretty less.

Second, Contributing as engineers on individual level is not good.

Rest all things seems pretty good to me.
