  • Complicated L1 renewal. Advice needed

    Hi,

The first L1-A application was rejected on a technicality about onsite supervisory staff not reporting into me.

Company re-applied for L1-B. Was granted petition and finaly the Visa too. Lived in the US for 8 months and then was relocated to Tokyo by the company.

Stayed in Tokyo for 10 months. Now I have been asked to go back to the US.

    1. Can I seek L1 renewal in Tokyo or should i go back to the embassy at the home country where the L1-B visa was given? What is safer? I am currently working in Tokyo with a work permit.
    2. My L1-B was petitioned with my place of work in California. I was in california for 3 weeks and then placed in New York in a new office opened by the company to go with INS guidelines that states that I have to work in the company office only. I reported to superiors in California.
Lived in NJ and travelled to NY for work.
So, my w-4 tax papers states NJ as the state for taxes. Will all this be a problem when I go for renewal of my L1-B using the existing L1-B petition to ren-enter the US. This time though I will be based in California itself.

    Please advice.
