  • L2 EAD Application -Finger Printing question

I am applying for EAD for my wife who is on L2. Our finger prints were taken at the time of visa interview (Sept 06) and at the port of entry (Oct 06).

The EAD application I-765 form states that we need to add the finger printing fee if finger printing is required. I do not know if finger printing is required for her (as it was done recently at the port of entry), and if so what fee needs to be paid.

I guess that if FP is required, they will send a letter to that effect after processing the 765. Should the fee be paid at the time of FP or at the time of sending in the EAD Application (I-765).

Also, please advice on the pros/cons of applying online vs sending it by mail.
    Thanks,
    wish

$70, but is it always needed?

I found an answer at the following location: https://www.immihelp.com/uscis-filing-fees/

However, it will be great if some one can confirme that the FP fee will be required in our case (as the instructions on the form says "if required").

        Rejected because of wrong fee

I sent in my application with the Finger Printing fee and application fee in the same money order as the folowing link suggested but I got my application back with a letter stating that I have not enclosed the correct fee. The correct fee mentioned was 180 where as I had enclosed 250 (180 + 70, finger printing fee is 70).
I have resent my application with a MO of 180.
This is for information for anyone refering to this post later.
        Cheers,

Finger printing is not required for applying EAD.
It's always better to send by mail I would suggest. I have applied by mail only.

You just have to fill the I-765 application, and produce necessary proof like your I-94, L1 petition, your spouse I-94, any other identity proof like DL or StateID, your spouse visa page, marriage ceritificate, Fee by cheque. All these details are given in the I-765 form itself. You generally recieve the EAD within 60 - 90 days.

I got in less than 2 months.

Make sure you enclose all the documents, otherwise it adds unnecessary overhead of sending th eproof agin when they query you by mail.

          Good Luck
