Hi,
I need some advice.
I am currenty a student on F1 status, graduating in May 2008. My wife has recently come to the US and will be working here on L1 status. As I understand, I will be able to work in the US, if I change my status to L2. I have the following questions:
1. Can I change the status right now and apply for work authorization, even while I am studying? this is important, since this will help me get a job since some companies require prior work authorization.
2. How long is the process of applying for a L2 and then for a work permit?
3. If I can indeed continue studying on an L2 Visa, will there by any disadvantage to me as a student?
4. I am on a loan here and wanted to know if my wife can claim any tax benefits on my loan repayments?
Thanks,
Kane Abel
