I-94 extention(Urgent)

Hi
I have L2 visa till JAN 2007 but at my port of entry they gave I_94 till JAN 2008.
Now my visa is getting over .Is it necessary for me to apply for extention as they already gave me I_94 till 2008?
If i dont apply will it be a problem for me to come back?

---- Yes, you should apply for the extension of your Visa as that enables you to retain the Visa status. I-94 is permitting you to enter the country and stay but does not complement status (although the Visa type is mentioned on the I-94)

Thank u subramanya but my doubt is I am on dependent visa (L2).My husband's visa & I-94 both r getting expired in jan 2007.So his office people r saying they will apply for I-94 extention for him & even though my visa is also getting expired since i have I-94 till 2008 there is no need to apply for me.
If i dont apply for extention now, will there be any problem in future when i go to india for stamping?.
