Question regarding EAD and L2 to H1

Hi ,
I have come on an L2 and have applied for my EAD and SSN. I have received my SSN.

1. Can I start applying for my Jobs and join once i receive my EAD.

2. Would it be better to file a H1 for 2007 and convert to H1 in October 2007 or would be better to stay in the current L2 status .
3. Would there be any advantage or issues if I move to H1. Please suggest.
