What is process to get work permit on L2?

I'm travelling on L2 visa, as I'm working in India, I'll quit the job & travel.
I came to know that L2 visa holder can work in US? Is it true? If so wht is the process to get work permit, & how much duration it takes, how to apply for it?
Wht is the minimum experienced required to work in US?
