Hi, I'm asking this question for someone else who knows very little about visa issues. I myself am somewhat aware of H1 visa related matters but know nothing about L1.
Can anyone tell me what document indicates the duration of validity of an L1 visa? My general understanding is that a visa only regulates entry to the country and has no real bearing on your status in the US, though this may not be true for all visa categories.
For example, I am on an F1 and though my F1 has expired, the only thing it affects is my ability to re-enter the US if I leave. My status however (ability to work/ whatever) is determined by the I20 document. Is there a similar document that goes with an L1 visa? If I am on L1 and my employment period in the US is scheduled to end at a certain date (which is about 1 year since it began), is my ability to stay in the US somehow limited? Is there a grace period or something?
