Validity of H1 under L1

Hi,
I have worked in US arond 9 months on H1B. And I applied for extension of my petition, which I got for company X.
Now I am going again by comapny Y on L1, I will stamp only L1 on my passport. Now I just want to know that after landing in US while working on
L1, can I use my H1 petition to work on a different company bu transferring
H1...

Please advise urgently.......

I do not get a clear picture. Is the Company which processed your H1 is still holding your H1 meanwhile you jumped to L1 company? I do not think (I am NOT sure though) the H1 would still be valid. Nevertheless, there is one clause where-in you can continue on your old H1 and NOT be part of the new H1 quota if you had earlier worked on H1 (and discontinued. It could mean a change of status or whatever). So, it needs to be understood carefully before coming to conclusions. But, also remember that, once you want to move to H1, you cannot do a plain H1 transfer as you need to do change of status (from L1 visa to H1 visa). My suspicion is that H1 would get cancelled when you go for the interview!! The latest VISA always overrules earlier visa unless it is NOT a Business Visa.

I do not have H1 stamped on my passport but i Have the extended petition which i got while in US. Now I am planning to GO on separate L1 and will stamp on passport.

Now My point is that if I can use my H1 petition for getting other employer while working on L1 in present company.
