  • L2 visa validity after maiden name change

In jan 2007 me and my wife went for us visa stamping. Both are issued visa
succesfully. At that time none of our passports are having spouse name added. My wife's visa is issued with her maiden name-B

In may 2007 I went for my passport renewal and got new passport .
In my new passport ,my wife sur name is appearing as married name -A

    Option-1
Do i need to change also my wife surname in my wife passport to
Surname-A? so that both passport will reflect to same sur name?

I option-1 is followed will the us visa already for my wife will be valid or not
since us visa is issued with maiden name-B

I honestly don't understand who changed his/her name, but

As long as your wife travels with both passports (the old one with maiden name, the new one) she should be OK.

Some DHS agents might get a little fussy over this. She can add a copy of her TRANSLATED marriage certificate to the deal - as long as the marriage certificate has both your wife's maiden name and your name, and it's in ENGLISH, it will be enough to demonstrate the relationship between both.

    Good luck.

L2 visa validity after maiden name change

I am re defining my problem .Hope it expalins better than the earlier mail.

Currently my wifes passport and her US VISA are issued with her name as ' SURNAME-A RAAGA ' (where SURNAME-A is her maiden surname and RAAGA is the original name).

But in my new passport ,(which I got last week as part of renewal ) my wife name is printed as SURNAME-B RAAGA '( where SURNAME-B is married surname and RAAGA is the original name) .Currently my wifes passport did not have my name(SURNAME-B BALA) included .

Please let me know if it is a problem during US travel or
any modification required in my wifes passport (ie. since my passport showing spouse name as' SURNAME-B RAAGA' and my wife's passport &visa showing as 'SURNAME-A RAAGA')

Naaaah. She still has the same passport with the same visa, both issued to her maiden name, right? that's ok. Even if she gets a new passport in the future with both names, she can still travel with both - new one as "working/current passport" and the old one with the visa attached.
As said before, she can also add a certified marriage certificate to the deal - again, most DHS officers at port of entry understand the fact that people do get married after being issued a visa, and can compare both passports and realize it is the same person. Some officers are a little more 'thorough' and may ask for proof of relationship - that is where the certified marriage certificate comes into play.
