Visa for Adopted Child

Hi,

We have adopted chiled from India. We live in India. We would like to apply Passport for my adopted child. Pls do let me know what all procedure/Docs require to submit for Passport then H-4/L-2 Visa.?

everything else is same as for biological child but instead of BC you will have to produce adoption papers

h4 for adopted child

I and my husband are both Indian citizens, residents of USA on H1-B. We want to go to India and adopt a child. Everywhere online, I have read that we cannot get the adopted kid on H4 visa unless the child has been in our custody for 2 years. But I have a feeling that this rule applies for immigrant visa and not for H4. My question is whether the child qualifies for H-4 visa?
