Valid L1 visa, approved H1 - same employer - can I travel on L1 visa?

Hello Guys,
I need advice on this scenario...

I am currently on L1. I have a valid L1 visa (and petition) till next year.

I also have an approved H1 petition from the same company, coming to effect from Oct, 1st 2007.

My question is:

Can I travel to India and come back to US on my L1 visa and petition during November time frame?

Please advice if this can be done.
