H1B to L2

Can a person with and H1B visa change to an L2 visa if the person's spouse has an L1 visa? If the answer is yes, what is the duration of the L2 visa? Does the duration of H1B and L2 add up? Or can a person be on H1B for 6 years and then on L2 for six more years?
If the H1B holder can change to the L2 status, what happens if the L1 visa holder resigns? Does the L2 visa automatically expire?
Can a L2 holder apply for a greencard?

1. Yes, you can get L2 visa.
2. Duration of L2 is duration of L1.
3. You can only stay maximum up to 6 years total.
4. If the primary visa holder has no longer L1, you don't have L2 visa.
5. L2 visa can apply for green card as the dependent of L1 visa who is applying for green card.
