L1 Visa eligibility

Hi,

I am working for my company since last April 07. Company has branch office in US (NJ). At present I am having Canadian permanent residency status. Is there any way I can go and work in US for the same company?

Is there any rule for L1 visa that I have to be in the same company for more then a year time? What does the term 1year in L1 visa mean.
