Greencard on L1

I am on L1 visa with a company A. Can I get my Greencard processed through company B, without the knowledge of company A ? Is company A notified by INS about my GC application ? Please clarify !!

Well you are not allowed to work for company B in the first place, unless you have an EAD and that company A has approved that you work for someone else.
