L2 EAD Renewal- Subramanya

My firm says that they will renew my L2 EAD if I don't "win" the H1B lottery this year.

Is that possible if spouse's visa (Primary L1) is not extended?

I thought the L2 EAD is valid only as long as the primary L1 holder's visa. Please correct my understanding.

If I do not get an H1 lottery and my EAD expires in July 2008, what are the other options for my firm to retain me?

L2 doesn't have independent status. In order to extend L2, employer of L1 must extend L1 first.

However it is possible that employer of L1 can apply for extension of L1 and L2 together.

Employer of L2 do not have any control on L1 extension. So they can not extend L2 until L1 is extended.
